Text Box: Answer 1. The first mention of the seventh or Sabbath is found in the book of Genesis. Genesis 2:1  Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.  And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it because that in it He had rested from all his work which God created and made. God made this day and sanctified it in addition to creation.

Answer 2. God caused the creation to be made in six days. He then added a day in which to rest and enjoy it. Notice when He created man on the sixth day. He said it was “very good”, up until man the creation was only “good”. Once man was created in Gods image then it was “very good” because it was complete.

Answer 3. It was decreed well before the Ten Commandments were given to the Israelites. Exodus 16:28  And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?  See, for that the LORD hath given you the Sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.  So the people rested on the seventh day. The Ten Commandments were not given until
Exodus 34:28  And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights;

he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. We therefore conclude the Sabbath was known before the Ten Commandments were given.

Answer 4. The Sabbath day was given to Moses for Israel by God in writing at Mount Sinai.

Answer 5. On Mount Sinai. Deuteronomy 4:13  And He declared unto you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and He wrote them upon two tables of stone.

Answer 6. God gave it as a Holy eternal Law. Leviticus 23:31  Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. So Israel is still under this commandment.
When Jesus returns to His own brethren they will most certainly keep the Sabbath. God is not a man that He should lie!

Answer 7. Yes. It incurred the death penalty. Numbers 15:32  And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the Sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation........  And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
